WE’RE HIRING: PR & Communications Apprentice

Hours: 37.5 hours per week to include one study day per week and hybrid working 9am-5.30pm Monday to Friday and out-of hours events and social media community management.
Length of contract: 19 months (5 months will be in assessment). You will be allocated 20% of your time for private study and will be given time to complete training from the PRCA to contribute towards your qualification.
Reporting to: Senior Account Manager
Brief summary of role: This is an exciting opportunity to join a values-led, creative and growing, independent PR agency while you gain a PRCA accredited Level 4 Apprenticeship in PR. You’ll assist across a range of PR, events, digital marketing and social media communications. It would suit a self-starter with strong communication skills who loves the media, understands cultural trends, and can demonstrate a creative flair.

Apprenticeship training overview:
• You will develop a wide understanding of Public Relations and the impact it has on businesses
• As a Public Relations and Communications Apprentice, you will follow a Level 4 Public Relations Assistant apprenticeship standard, with a PRCA Qualification.
• This will involve “on the job” training, virtual visits from an Apprenticeship Coach, an internal line manager to provide ongoing guidance, online learning, and creating a portfolio of evidence.
• Attendance to 50+ high-quality PRCA industry-training courses.
• Functional Skills in Maths and English if required.
• You will be working towards an End-Point Assessment (EPA) which will determine if you have the knowledge, skills, and behaviours listed in the PR & Communications Assistant Standard.
• PRCA is the training provider for this apprenticeship, as well as the largest membership and industry body for the PR & Communications industry.
PR activities:
You will be responsible for the creation and implementation of a broad range of PR activities to include:
• Develop written and non-written content and schedule this content for publication/distribution according to the public relations and communications or campaign plan.
• Contribute to the creation of campaigns or new business proposals planning and their implementation.
• Research, analyse and monitor stakeholders to inform engagement strategies.
• Monitor media to keep up to date with current affairs and build knowledge of the journalist and media landscape.
• Research, analyse and evaluate campaigns against key performance indicators (KPIs) to prepare future campaigns.
• Share content with relevant stakeholders and media, to inform and influence audiences to maintain positive relationships.
• Undertake reputation assessment and formulate responses to support stakeholders with the planning and implementation of reputation management and/or crisis strategies.
• Support the Public Relations and Communications’ team with routine administrative, logistical, and time-sensitive tasks.
• Support the planning and delivery of ad hoc engagement activities such as events.
• Contribute to team development through sharing relevant knowledge and skills when required.
• Organise and coordinate stakeholder meetings.
• Contribute to the organisational objectives and key performance indicators to support communication activities which drive and improve performance and sustainability goals.
• Create social media content for client campaigns which may include generating ideas for social media posts, developing monthly content plans and implementing content and scheduling online.
• Monitoring of client’s social channels and topics/issues that may be relevant to them. Community management across client social media platforms.
• You may be expected to collate content via your mobile phone for clients at events or to help with campaign creation.
• You will be responsible for monthly reporting of actions against targets and will keep up to date timesheets to track and monitor your progress.
• You will participate in internal update meetings and work with your account team to ensure jobs required are completed to the standard expected.
• You will support with admin and office management activities as required.
