5 Steps to becoming a TikTok influencer

The rise of TikTok has transformed the way we create and consume content on social media. Influencers have become increasingly popular, and the platform has provided a way for brands and creators to collaborate and promote their products and services.

If you want to learn how you can start your journey into becoming the next TikTok influencer, here are 5 key steps you need to take.

Choose a niche

The first step is to choose a niche for what type of content you will create as this will help you to target the right audience. Becoming an influencer takes time so it is important that you enjoy the content you create to keep up motivation.

If you don’t know what your niche is yet, it can be helpful to post a range of different content. This will allow you to evaluate what style of content performs well on your account.

Filming & posting

To become an influencer, you don’t need loads of filming equipment. Your phone can be used for filming and there are AI video apps that can help you edit your content. For lighting, natural works best, however, it might be worth getting a ring light or studio light for dull days or filming at nighttime.

The audio used in a TikTok can be the difference between a hit or flop. When choosing what audio to use in a video, trending sounds are the way to go. This is going to allow your content to be seen by more people. Videos where you are talking to the camera or include a voiceover need to be snappy! You want to get your point across fast, so people don’t get bored.

To make your content more discoverable, be sure to use hashtags. These need to be specific and relevant to what the content you’re posting is.

Being consistent

On TikTok, consistency is crucial, especially when it comes the algorithm pushing your content out. Posting regularly is going to increase the chances of people seeing your content. You should aim to post at least once a day. When posting multiple videos in one day, they should be posted at different times and not all at once. A tip is to bulk film videos as this will save time and help with staying consistent on days where you don’t have time to create content.

When putting text on videos, make sure the fonts you use stay the same as it is more visually appealing for your account.

Engagement

Engagement is key for building a community. Always like and respond to comments people have left on your videos. Likewise, it is important to engage with other users’ content too. This makes you more visible and allows you to build relationships with other creators. Additionally, it shows the algorithm that you are a committed creator and will push your content out to more users.

Brand collaborations

As you start to build a following, you could get the chance to work with brands. This can either be a gifted or paid collaboration. Brands may reach out to you, however, pitching yourself to them can be a way to get more collaborations and allow you to select brands that align with you and your audience.

An influencer who is doing all these steps well is @sagelining. Her niche is travel and she makes content around the different places she travels to. For example, she posted a video which has 1.3 million views called 5 things to do in Corfu, Greece. She added the location and used specific hashtags such as #thingstodoincorfu and #corfuactivites. The creator has also liked and replied to comments other users have left on the video.

Overall, becoming an influencer takes consistency, creativity and dedication. The most important thing is that you don’t give up!
